Megan Dobbs, Soprano, grew up in Texas, where she was active in several choral ensembles as well as the local community theater scene. These experiences led her to pursue music further. She holds a Bachelors degree in Music from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas where she studied with Dr. Lynnette Chambers. While there, she fell in love with opera. Megan was seen in the university’s productions of Mozart’s The Impressario and Menotti’s The Medium, as well as in several scenes programs and an abridged educational outreach production of Mozart’s
Die Zauberflöte. She received additional training with Red River Lyric Opera and the Opera Viva! summer intensive.
After completing her Bachelors, Megan moved to Kansas City where she earned a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, where she studied with Dr. Raymond Feener. During her time at the Conservatory, she was seen in productions of Mozart’s La finta giardinera and Ravel’s L’enfent et les Sortilèges. Since completing her Masters, Megan has worked with Music on Site, Inc. and Landlocked Opera. In December 2021, she returned to Music on Site, Inc. to make her role debut as Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte. In the summer of 2023, Megan reprised her role as Queen of the Night at Quisisana Resort in Center Lovell, Maine.
Megan is a student of Jennifer Rowley. She is currently based in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, where she resides with her husband and their dog Marcy.
